Tips:

Soy candle wax burns at a low temperature, about 170 degrees. This means you'll want to use 1 to 1-1/2 to 3/4 ounce of oil-based fragrance per pound of soy candle wax. We usually add the fragrance right before the soy candle wax is ready to pour. If you use a candy thermometer, at 100 degrees F.

Soy candle wax burns much more completely than other mediums. However, to completely clean your container, set in small sauce pan that is 1/2 full of water. As a low fire brings the temperature up, you'll be able to pour the remaining soy candle wax out of the container. Wipe with a paper towel. Wash with regular dish soap and warm water. After the container is dry, it's ready for a new pour!

Please be sure to measure your soy candle wax before you melt it by weight. For normal household use, we recommend a dieter scale. One pound of soy candle wax will fill 2 eleven ounce glasses or 3 votives.

We recommend adding your coloring to the soy candle wax as it is melting. Please keep in mind that soy candle wax is naturally white and will cool lighter than the melted color. If using a dye block to color your soy candle wax, you can use an ordinary cheese grater right over the wax. Continue to stir as the wax melts. You can test your color by dripping a bit of melted wax onto a small piece of wax or freezer paper. As it cools, you will see the color of your finished soy wax candle.

If you're using a wick that is not pre-tabbed, you'll want to drip a bit of soy candle wax into your container to set the wick into. Don't forget to put the wick into a holder while it cools. We use a craft popsicle stick with a hole drilled in the center. Just place the wick through the hole and the center over the container. These sticks are reuseable.
